[Central Texas Young Farmers]

Hello CTYFC community,

As you may have seen, we made the difficult decision to permanently archive
our current Facebook group. While this space was created with the intention
to foster collaboration among young and beginning farmers in Central Texas,
multiple incidents have occurred in which mostly non-farmers or
non-beginning farmers have created an environment that does not further our
mission of connection, education, or advocacy.

The most recent incident involved a community member’s request for support
met with a harmful denial of racism. CTYFC leadership believes that
anything with our name on it cannot further an environment of hostility and
prejudice. In order to serve our followers best we decided to pause,
regroup, and create a new space that promotes peer to peer collaboration
and support.

It is our intent to create an online social media presence that is as
accessible as possible for ALL young and beginning farmers to share their
struggles, successes, and resources that enrich agriculture in Central
Texas. Let us be very clear about our anti-racist values at CTYFC: working
in farming is a challenge for everyone, but historical and current policies
create more barriers for Farmers of Color to succeed. If you are wrestling

We still believe in the value of virtual spaces where we can support one
another and share resources and information. However, we will be more
mindful to only include 1) Central Texas-located 2) young & beginning
farmers or those interested in starting to farm and 3) organizations and

The new Facebook group will operate under the following community
guidelines:

   1. Zero tolerance for racist, sexist, ableist, or homophobic remarks of
   any kind
   2. Zero tolerance for bullying, personal attacks or name-calling of any
   kind
   3. Only post about farming-related matters
   4. No commercial posts (excluding selling used equipment, transplants,
   etc.)

If it comes to the attention of the CTYFC board that rules 1 or 2 have been
broken, we will act in the form of immediate removal from the group and
will follow up with this individual offline. Posts that go against rules 3
or 4 will be deleted and posters will be kindly checked in with.

We want to remind our followers that CTYFC is volunteer-run by a board of
four working farmers. We take impropriety and racism seriously and
understand the urgency of addressing these matters, but do not have the
bandwidth to actively monitor a Facebook group 24/7. If you see something
that you would like to flag for the attention of CTYFC’s board please

for a response.
