Fourteen Acres Farm at Tito’s Vodka was built for our distillery team with this concept in mind: create an environment where fresh food is accessible. As the name suggests we grow on fourteen acres in deep Southeast Austin within earshot of Circuit of the America’s. Cultivated by a team of farmers, we provide fresh produce to our distillery staff year-round through an on-site farmers’ market. Practicing regenerative and biology forward growing methods we aim to provide nutrient dense and delicious produce to our community.

Our team exhibits exceptional personal responsibility and mutual respect for each other. We acknowledge we all come to the table with different strengths and rely on leveraging those to support each other. Balancing work and life are vital and we prioritize not creating a “burn out” culture. We come together collectively to plan and align goals and often work independently to execute. Adaptative and empathetic personalities that don’t take themselves too seriously will thrive.

Job Title: Wash & Pack House Lead

Primary Responsibilities:

  * Receive produce deliveries – We currently are not able to grow enough to meet our market’s needs. To supplement we work with other small farms with our same growing practices. When those deliveries arrive our W&P Lead greets them, confirms quantity and quality, and unloads orders into the cooler. We strive to reduce the impact of our already strenuous work load by incorporating u-boats, carts, and trollies as much as we can but this person will need to be comfortable repeatedly lifting produce boxes, 20-50lb.

  * Lead post-harvest wash and pack activities M/W/F - Following food safety guidelines the W&P Lead will direct the team efficiently as the harvest arrives from the field. This role will need to discern and communicate when, how, and what items will need to be washed and stored and comfortable with rapidly changing courses as the landscape of the day changes. Establishing a reasonable sense of urgency, efficiency of motion, recording data accurately, and clear communication are highly productive skills applied in this space.

  * Maintain food safety standards – Continue establishing and administering an approved food safety plan

  * Maintain supplies and equipment in wash & pack house – Consistently ensure all equipment used in this area is clean and ready to use and well stocked

  * Staff farmer’s market one day weekly – The farmer’s market is currently open from 2pm-5pm Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Our market coordinator covers two of those shifts and to create a balanced work load for everyone we support that position by covering one shift a week. A comfort merchandising produce and building relationships with our market go-ers is a must.

  * Improve established systems as needed – We are constantly working on growth and improving, personally and professionally. An ability to contribute constructively to opportunities for improvement is welcome and relied on.

  * Participate in harvests on M/W/F - Friday harvests are seasonal and crop dependent

  * Support field tasks – This role is needed to assist in field duties Monday afternoons, all day Tuesday and Thursday and dependent on Friday harvests. Tasks will be communicated and directed by the farm manager and vary seasonally.

  * Communicate effectively with Market Coordinator and Harvest Lead.

  * Appreciation and tolerance for extreme weather – The farm has needs year-round and we operate on wet, cold, and hot days. This position is primarily working outdoors directly in the weather every day.

Pay & Benefits:

Each member of our team goes through a 3-month trial period through our temp agency. After the 3-month review members are on-boarded as a full-time employee and are eligible for the following benefits:

  * Starting hourly rate is dependent on experience and ranges from $18-$22/hour

  * Annual holiday and performance bonuses

  * Vacation and sick hours accumulate with each pay period averaging 2 weeks of each annually, 2 flex days annually, and paid major holidays

  *   Generous 401k match

  * Healthcare (3 plans to choose from high deductible at zero cost to low deductible with cost), generous Healthcare Savings Account and Lifestyle Savings Account contributions

  *   Weekly produce and vodka

  * Pet adoption reimbursement up to $250

We typically work a ~40-hour week Monday - Friday with days beginning at 6:30am in the summer and 7:30 in the winter. Starting this year, we will begin hosting a few events in the evening at the farm. These events are scheduled in advance and the team's attendance and support will at times be needed.
