Thank you everyone for the responses, advice and comments. I always enjoy hearing people’s differing views and opinions.

A few years ago there was a interview on NPR. The host was interviewing the owner of one of the last companys to make hand-carved fishing lures, it was here in the US someplace. Towards the end the host asked how they tested designs, maybe they had underwater cameras or a giant aquarium ? The owner's reply was "we don't sell lures to fish".

As I understand it, sea minerals will not be adding any nutrients that will be showing up on any soil/tissue test, Cornell or otherwise. Soil science is not settled. Likely/maybe a micronutrient in a sea mineral soil supplement will make a tissue tested nutrient more bio-available in the soil.

I use azomite. I believe in it. I also believe in Biodynamics, Jadam, and in small scale agriculture being able to bring about a world centered in Gaia, integral philosophy…

We Americans have the best Science and most efficient agriculture in the world. And…, I agree, talk to Thomas at Earthwise. But most innovators had to augment some advise of experts. And agriculture is very much culture. Culture is stories. As a farmer in the public realm you tell your story.

These days, I find telling the gardening story as a story I’d exploration and discovery is attractive. On the other hand, some people want to be told this is the tomato variety to plant and here is your fertilizer mix.

Happy winter digression from me Y’all!

Travis

I'd suggest getting soil/tissue tests first and identify your limiting nutrients. It will only be helpful if you have a deficiency in one of the minerals needed for plant growth. I haven't heard anything about sea minerals in particular, but it's my general opinion that the agriculture input business is full of snake oil :-)

Hey,

Does anyone have experience with using de-salinated sea minerals? A few products out there, the basic idea is they take sea water, concentrate it down until the sodium chloride precipitates, leaving just the other trace minerals (i.e. no salt) in a concentrated solution, which can be added to the soil. Some products have biological stuff added too, seaweed, molasses, mycos, that sort of thing.

I’m contemplating getting a bottle based on the marketing but I’d be curious if anyone has actual first hand experience.
