Dear farming community,

As the oppressive heat of the summer settles in for real, I wanted to take
a second to share some resources for anyone having a hard time. It's been
an intense year and a half, and I know that a lot of us are feeling it. *You
are not alone*, mental health issues affect 1 in 5 individuals.

It can be hard to take the time to reach out for help, or even feel like
it's worth it. Please know that it is worth it and *YOU are worth it.*

If you need some help, please find it. Below are some resources:
*- Call 1-800-FARM-AID* between Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. CST and
they’ll do their best to direct you to someone who can help.

- The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline
<https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/> (*1-800-273-8255 <1-800-273-8255>*)
provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal
crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across the
United States. The Lifeline is comprised of a national network of over 170
local crisis centers, combining custom local care and resources with
national standards and best practices. *You do not have to be suicidal to
call. *

- If you prefer to text, you can text *HOME* to 741741 from anywhere in the
United States, anytime. Crisis Text Line
<https://www.crisistextline.org/text-us/> is there for any crisis. A live,
trained Crisis Counselor receives the text and responds, all from a secure
online platform. The volunteer Crisis Counselor will help you move from a
hot moment to a cool moment.

- SAMHSA’s National Helpline, 1-800-662-HELP (4357) <1-800-662-4357>, (also
known as the Treatment Referral Routing Service) or TTY: 1-800-487-4889 is
a confidential, free, 24-hour-a-day, 365-day-a-year, information service,
in English and Spanish, for individuals and family members facing mental
and/or substance use disorders. This service provides referrals to local
treatment facilities, support groups, and community-based organizations.
Callers can also order free publications and other information.

If you are ok but have a farm friend or neighbor, here is a very short
article about how to provide support.

If you ever need someone to talk to, you can always call me at
732-757-1291. I am not by any stretch a mental health expert, but I can
lend an ear and we can look into next steps.

Sending love,

*Carolina Mueller*
